Juniors 2010 - Update - for January 2010
Information for BC Juniors
1. J-league at REVS - Underway - We'll be doing some more video recording of our players on Sunday in order to start our new online coaching and mentorship program. So...if you want to dress up...while playing, feel free! - A few players who sold chocolate bars in our fundraiser have not yet turned in their money. If you took a box, bring $60.00 on this Sunday. - Please arrive for the league at NOON - League matches begin at 1PM after warm-up and coaching drills.
2. Junior Provincial Championships - March 25-28th (tentative, but very likely on these days) - at Newlands - Like the last two years, the Junior Provincials are going to be held at the same time as the senior provincials - from March 25-28th. Junior events will be on the Saturday and Sundays - 27th and 28th- at Newlands in Langley.
3. Junior Nationals - Burlington, Ontario - April 26th - May 1st - Cedar Springs, Ontario * Air Canada now has a great seat deal going - we got our tickets to Toronto for the upcoming Junior Nationals for $300 return. The seat selection will go away quickly, so take advantage of the low prices before they go up to arrange for getting to Nationals. ** Now is the time to book a hotel room. Like last year, I will be reserving a group or rooms. Players and their families can ask for a room in this allotment, and then will be asked to pay the hotel directly at a later date. *** We are looking to hold our Team BC nationals training camp during Spring Break. More questions and feedback from parents and players will help in this regard. Look for more information soon. Sebastien is onboard to be running the camp again. - Thank you to Penny Pratt for her Travel Scholarship - and congratulations to Nicholas Leung and Chloe Chong who have been selected for this year!
4. The EDP - Elite Development Program at REVS
In response to older and more advanced juniors hoping for more from the J-League on Sundays, we've started a new program - the EDP. The Elite Development Program is now underway from 2PM to 4PM each Sunday at REVS.
What will happen at the EDP? - Mentors (top BC players) will be coming every week to help train players for the upcoming Provincials and Junior Nationals in Burlington. - Certified coaches will also be on hand to work on your stroke, court positioning, shot selection, physical and mental preparation, and other aspects of your game. - Each player has recommendations for training exercises and drills from Sebastien Boissonneault, the number one player in BC. We will be videoing and making video clips available for online comments and suggestions from coaches and mentors, as well as future analysis in person with Sebastien during training and EDP sessions.
To quality to take part in the EDP - you are required to be an elite player in your age category intending to play in provincial and/or national tournaments in the future. ** Players from outside the Lower Mainland can apply for funds to attend the EDP. Contact Stephen Culhane or Debbie Goodhope |
